Healthcare Journal of LITTLE ROCK I NOV / DEC 2018 55 Chad S. Aduddell CEO CHI St. Vincent Infirmary and theANI team developed a surgical tech- nique that allows them to travel through the sinus to extract the tumors, allowing for complete tumor extraction, quicker recov- ery time, and fewer deficits for the patient. Dr. Krisht’s skills in performing cavernous sinus surgery have gained international attention and he is continually invited to speak at international meetings regarding this technique. This is the kind of expertise and advance- ments in the field that CHI St. Vincent is choosing to invest in for the future. Our goal of improving the quality of care for patients, while simultaneously reducing re- covery time and the risk of complications, mirrors the work we are doing in all of our hospitals to improve overall outcomes and manage costs for our patients. Instead of new buildings, we are choosing to invest in innovation, new ideas, and quality of care. Our investment in CHI St. Vincent’s Neu- roscience Institute is a primary example of that focus. Improving the quality of care we provide alone is not enough. We are also working to significantly expand access to research, in- formation, and other resources in our minis- try so our patients can make informed deci- sions and take the leading role they should in their health care. Adjacent to the patient care facility, we are also building a state-of-the art Education and Research Center that will be complete in the spring of 2019. This new Education and Research Center will allow ANI to expand and grow their educational programs, con- tinue to transform patient outcomes, and develop pioneering surgical techniques. That means a new generation of neurosur- geons will have the opportunity to come to Arkansas to learn the skills necessary to tackle the most complex cases and posi- tively impact patient survival rates in their own communities. The health care industry in the United States may be changing, but the CHI St. Vin- cent commitment to our ministry and the care of our communities here inArkansas is as strong today as it was 130 years ago when we first opened our doors. Now, with the development of the new ANI facility, Edu- cation and Research Center, integration of the Little Rock Diagnostic Clinic, and more, we are making great strides in building a sustainable future for us all. n Chad S.
