Andrea Woods, JD, is the new chair of Conway Regional Board of Directors.
She succeeds Rev. Cornell Maltbia as board chairman. Maltbia continues on the board. “We have been blessed to have such an engaging leader as Rev. Maltbia as our chairman, and I look forward to Andrea bringing her own brand of decision-making and compassion to leadership of the board,” said Matt Troup, Conway Regional Health System president and CEO.
Schwanda Flowers, PharmD, has been named interim dean of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Pharmacy. She is the college’s associate dean for administrative and academic affairs.
Flowers has served as interim dean since Jan. 7, when former dean Keith Olsen, PharmD, stepped down to take an appointment as dean of the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy in Omaha. UAMS will conduct a national search for a successor to Olsen.
The Arkansas Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (AR ADDM) Program of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) recently was awarded a four-year grant of $2.17 million by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Arkansas monitoring program tracks the number and characteristics of eight-year-olds with autism spectrum disorder and/or intellectual disability. The new funding will enable the monitoring program to continue that work while also tracking four- and 16-year-olds.
Mallory Smith, MD, an infectious disease physician, has joined Conway Regional Health System to establish the first infectious disease clinic in Faulkner County.
“We are very excited to have a physician of Dr. Smith’s expertise join our staff,” said Rebekah Fincher, chief administrative officer of Conway Regional Health System. “Infectious disease has historically been an area of need for the health system as well as the community and we are excited to partner with Dr. Smith to provide this new service.”
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has hired Michelle Gonzalez, PhD, CRNA, to guide the formation and accreditation of a new nurse anesthesia educational program.
