Arkansas Heart Hospital announced the hiring of a bariatric surgeon, Dr. J.D. Fuller. Fuller is a native Arkansan and most recently served as a surgeon with Arkansas Bariatric Surgery in Little Rock.
Christopher Trudeau, JD, an associate professor in the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and an associate professor of law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UA Little Rock) William H. Bowen School of Law, has been tapped to serve a four-year term on the Food and Drug Administration’s advisory committee on risk communication.
Arkansas Heart Hospital announced construction to begin on its second hospital in Bryant, Ark. in the coming weeks. The new hospital is located less than 15 miles from its flagship.
UAMS researcher Nickolas Zaller, PhD, recently was awarded a three-year, $350,000 research fellowship for a new telehealth counseling pilot study in the West Memphis area for individuals on probation or parole who have behavioral health disorders.
The purpose of the study is to determine if providing counseling services through telemedicine to people on probation or parole can improve their behavioral health outcomes and reduce the frequency at which they commit new offenses and return to prison or jail.
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Medical Center recently won the Most Wired Award for the fourth year in a row from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).
