Baptist Health has promoted longtime nursing leader Kelley Hamby to a newly created position, system chief nursing officer. Hamby most recently served as the chief nursing officer for Baptist Health Medical Center-North Little Rock.

Fen Xia, MD, PhD, chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, has been named a fellow of the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).

Xia is among 27 distinguished cancer specialists in the United States to be inducted into ASTRO’s 2022 Class of Fellows, which includes physicians from Stanford, Yale, The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and the National Cancer Institute.

The 2022 Miracle Ball, a shared project of Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH) Auxiliary and Arkansas Children’s Foundation, raised more than $870,000 benefiting Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

“We could not be more grateful to the donors who made this year’s event a night of impact,” said Fred Scarborough, president of Arkansas Children’s Foundation. “The donors’ support and the Auxiliary members' passion for Arkansas Children’s help ensure a better today and healthier tomorrow for children in Arkansas and beyond.”

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has received a $2 million commitment from Rhonda M. Dick, MD, and Joseph Kennedy “Ken” Dick, MBA, to establish the Dr. Rhonda and Ken Dick Endowed Scholarship in the UAMS College of Medicine. This pledge is made through their revocable trust.

The Festival of Stars Toy and Donation Drive and Radiothon raised $466,854 for Arkansas Children’s, making the holidays brighter for the patients and families of Arkansas Children’s Hospital and Arkansas Children’s Northwest, the state’s local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
