Paul Park, MD, a Memphis neurosurgeon specializing in spine surgery, will discuss advances in spinal neurosurgery at a public lecture Nov. 4 at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).

The lecture, entitled “Evolving Surgical Treatment Paradigms for Adult Spinal Deformity,” is part of the Flanigan-Boop Endowed Lectureship in Spinal Neurosurgery, and will begin at 5 p.m. in the Fred Smith Auditorium on the 12th floor of the UAMS Jackson T. Stephens Spine Institute. It will be followed by a reception.

The Arkansas Minority Health Commission has awarded $26,000 in scholarships to 28 minority students pursuing careers in healthcare and public health for the Fall 2022 school semester.

Part-time students receiving scholarships are Sir-Jason Monroe, Valissia Batemon, both of Conway; and Taylor Thompson and Vivian White, both of Little Rock.

A graduate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tenn., Houston began seeing patients at Arkansas Urology’s Conway and Russellville locations on Aug. 29.
