The Mabee Foundation recently awarded $950,000 to Methodist Family Health for construction of the Mike Millar Spiritual Life Center. The new center will replace the original chapel on Methodist Family Health’s oldest campus, the Methodist Children’s Home, in Little Rock.

This challenge grant to the Methodist Family Health Foundation for completion of the new center stipulates the nonprofit raise the total project cost of $4,256,175 by Oct. 13, 2021. To date, Methodist Family Health Foundation has $809,000 left to raise.

Arkansas Hospice announced that Shannon Boshears, CFRE, has been named vice president and chief philanthropy officer for the organization. She will oversee all fundraising, gift administration, and strategic direction for the Arkansas Hospice Foundation while working alongside organizational leadership to provide support for the programs and services of Arkansas Hospice.

Arkansas Hospice President and CEO Judy Wooten has received the 2020 ACHE Regent’s Award for Senior Level Healthcare Executive. The recognition is given by the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 48,000 leaders who oversee hospitals, healthcare systems, and other healthcare organizations.

Two members of New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University’s Class of 2021 were matched to U.S. military residencies and will begin their graduate medical education in conjunction with service to their country. 

Student doctor Kimberly Fletcher matched in psychiatry and will perform her residency at Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood, Tex. Student doctor Danny McIntyre was placed into a transitional year program at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Fort Gordon, Ga.
