A community drive-thru evaluation clinic for COVID-19 will be held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., June 6 at First Baptist Church, 811 Scipio Jones Drive in North Little Rock. There will be no out-of-pocket cost to the patient.
The clinic will be conducted by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) along with The First Baptist Church of North Little Rock and the City of North Little Rock Department of Parks and Recreation.
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Medical Center is the first hospital in Arkansas to operate with the ExcelsiusGPS robotic spine navigation system that helps improve accuracy and reduce the invasiveness of spinal surgery.
Noojan Kazemi, MD, an associate professor of neurosurgery in the UAMS College of Medicine and director of the Spine Neurosurgery Program, performed the first procedure at UAMS with the ExcelsiusGPS robot. Kazemi sees patients in the UAMS Neurosurgery Clinic.
Arthur Johnson, MD, recently joined Baptist Health Neuroscience Center-Fort Smith.
Johnson is a board-certified neurosurgeon with more than 30 years of experience. He has practiced medicine in the River Valley since 1998. His services include minimally invasive spine surgery, as well as surgery of the neck, brain, and back.
The Blue & You Foundation for a Healthier Arkansas has awarded Conway Regional Health Foundation with a $150,000 grant as part of its Rapid-Response COVID-19 Relief program. In addition to Conway Regional, six additional grants were awarded to recipients throughout the state. The program has now funded $1.7 million in grants to organizations in Arkansas working to prevent the spread of COVID-19 or helping communities deal with its effects.

New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University, which became the first osteopathic medical school in the state when it opened its doors in 2016, celebrated the commencement and hooding of its inaugural class in a virtual ceremony held recently.
