Bank of America has made a $37,000 gift to a recently established COVID-19 support fund at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

The COVID-19 Support Fund will cover costs associated with screening, testing, and treating patients with COVID-19, specifically items such as personal protective equipment like gloves, gowns and masks, as well as thermometers. As needs evolve to meet the COVID-19 pandemic, the fund will evolve to address those needs.

Washington Regional has revised the hours of its screening clinic.

The Washington Regional Coronavirus (COVID-19) Screening Clinic, 3318 N. North Hills Blvd. in Fayetville, wil be open Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

As of March 30, the Arkansas Department of Health has confirmed 449 cases of COVID-19, statewide. The number of COVID-19 deaths in Arkansas rose to six.

The Department also reported that the total numbers of cases includes 15 children and that 67 of the people infected are healthcare workers.

Arkansans applying for Medicaid, food assistance, and other programs are encouraged to do so online or by phone rather than in-person during this public health emergency. People applying in-person may experience longer than usual wait times because the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) is limiting the number of people in office lobbies at one time.

DHS also is requesting federal approval to change some of its processes to reduce the need for in-person contact.

Baptist Health Foundation has received two donations totaling more than $130,000 to fund coronavirus disease (COVID-19) testing equipment for the Western Region.

An anonymous organization awarded $98,000 and the Fort Smith-based Good Neighbor Foundation, voluntarily funded by Baptist Health employees in the Western Region, donated $33,000 toward the Cepheid testing system.
