This screening is recommended for adults aged 50 to 77 years who have a 20 pack-year smoking history and currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years.

What do you need to do to prepare for screening? It’s a good idea to receive counseling to quit smoking if you currently smoke. You should see your primary care doctor about the benefits and limits of screening with Low Dose CT scans. Also check with your insurance provider to see if you need a referral for screening.

Lung cancer screening with annual low-dose CT scans for those at high risk can reduce the lung cancer death rate by up to 20%.
