COVID-19 and the constant changes surrounding it is taking a mental and emotional on the state’s citizens. To combat this and bring some joy to Arkansans, Methodist Family Health is asking pet lovers to share pictures and video of their pets, which the nonprofit will share to its social media platforms and publications.
“We follow news of the coronavirus daily, and we know it is causing stress and uncertainty in our community,” said Kelli Reep, director of communications at Methodist Family Health. “I have three cats, and they have a way of making me focus my attention on nothing but them, and it has helped me manage my anxiety. #ShowUsYourPets is a way Methodist Family Health can provide Arkansans a small getaway from today’s cares, even if it’s just for a little while.”
To participate is easy and simple. Follow Methodist Family Health at Facebook.com/MethodistFamilyHealth, Twitter.com/MethodistFamily or Instagram.com/MethodistFamilyHealth and comment on your pet’s photo and a little info about him or her. Or, you can e-mail Response@MethodistFamily.org a photo and info about your pet, and Methodist Family Health will share to its social media platforms. Tag what you submit with #ShowUsYourPets.
“At Methodist Family Health, one of the therapy resources we utilize is pets. These pets and their trainers help the children and families in our care express themselves and feel love and trust,” Reep said. “Sometimes, the unconditional love of a pet is the only time a child has experienced the truest meaning of love. We know pets hold a special place in the hearts and lives of our fellow Arkansans, and they serve to keep our minds clear and emotions in balance.”
