UAMS Head Start Hosts Enrollment, Hiring Event June 27

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences’ Head Start program is hosting Destination Head Start: Enrollment and Hiring Event from 10 a.m.2 p.m. on Friday, June 27, at the Head Start Central Office at 8901 Kanis Road in Little Rock.

Staff will be available to answer questions about the Head Start program and provide tours of the center. Children’s activities and snacks will be provided.

Applications for the 2025-2026 school year will be accepted at the Central Office and all other UAMS Head Start locations. The child’s birth certificate and family’s proof of income, which can include SNAP benefits, are required to process the application.

For those unable to attend, applications can be completed online at headstart.uams.edu. Parents can also register at the Head Start Central Office, 8901 Kanis Road in Little Rock, between 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

UAMS Head Start also is looking for caregivers who are patient, energetic, and love working with children. Those interested in the position may complete a job application in advance or during the event (keyword: Head Start). In-person interviews will be conducted.

UAMS Head Start provides quality early childhood education services for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years with center-based and home-based options and no out-of-pocket fees for qualifying families. UAMS operates six Head Start centers in Pulaski County.

The Pregnant Women program, which provides services to expectant mothers, fathers and families, is also accepting applications.
