CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs Earns Highest Rating for Quality and Safety in SW Arkansas from CMS

CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs earned a prestigious five-star overall rating for quality of care and patient safety in the latest hospital ratings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The five-star rating is the highest rating conferred by CMS, which ranks 3,355 hospitals nationally.

“This is affirmation that we really are serving our community at the very highest level and ensuring that our healing ministry is making a positive impact on their lives,” said CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs President Douglas Ross, MD. “You don’t achieve a five-star quality rating by accident. It takes dedication, commitment, and hard work from everyone at our hospital and we’re certainly proud of the work they do to provide compassionate care to our community.”

As a federal entity overseeing Medicare and Medicaid services, CMS constantly reviews a wide range of information, including as many as 51 categories grouped into five key measures: mortality; safety of care; readmissions; patient experiences; and timely and effective care. The overall star rating they assign to hospitals is based on how well a hospital performs across those measures of quality.

CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs also recently earned an A in Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades’ spring 2021 rankinsgs, recognizing the hospital’s achievements protecting patients from errors, injuries, accidents and infections.
