Two physicians from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will speak Aug. 25 on the safety of COVID-19 vaccines during pregnancy.
Nirvana Manning, MD, and Robert Hopkins Jr., MD, will present Safety of COVID-19 Vaccines and Pregnancy at noon, Aug. 25 on Zoom. There will be a Q&A session at the end of their presentation. Joseph Sanford, MD, director of the UAMS Institute for Digital Health & Innovation, will act as the moderator.

Manning is the chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UAMS, where she also serves as director of women’s health services and as vice chair of clinical care. She is a member of many professional organizations including the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the American Medical Association.
Hopkins is a professor of internal medicine and pediatrics and serves as the chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine, associate program director for the Med-Peds residency and in 2020-21 has served as medical director for COVID-19 testing and vaccination at UAMS. He has held a number of national and local leadership positions including current service as chair of the National Vaccine Advisory Committee and as a member of the Arkansas Department of Health Vaccine Medical Advisory Committee.
