Washington Regional Earns National Recognition for Heart Attack Treatment

Washington Regional Medical Center earned two Mission: Lifeline® Achievement Awards from the American Heart Association for demonstrating commitment to following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of heart disease, ultimately leading to more lives saved, shorter recovery times and fewer readmissions to the hospital.

Mission: Lifeline® STEMI Silver Plus Receiving

Washington Regional earned this award by meeting specific criteria for one year for quick treatment through emergency procedures for patients experiencing an ST Myocardial Infarction, or STEMI, the deadliest type of heart attack.

Mission: Lifeline® NSTEMI Silver

For this recognition, Washington Regional demonstrated a high adherence for one year to providing dual antiplatelet therapy prescription, or DAPT, to patients at discharge. DAPT decreases the risk of future blood clots, heart attack and stroke. Washington Regional also showed an 85% or greater achievement score on other quality measures and referrals to cardiac rehabilitation for patients with non-STEMI heart attacks.
