The Arkansas Department of Health has re-designated Unity Health – White County Medical Center as a Level III Trauma Center as part of the statewide trauma system.          

Unity Health RN and Trauma Program Manager Margaret Duggan said the designation as a trauma center by the state of Arkansas demonstrates to the community Unity Health’s commitment to meet defined trauma standards set by the trauma section at the ADH.

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is home to the first neurosurgery program in the state with BrightMatterTM, a surgical planning software for brain surgery.

The software helps brain surgeons protect important parts of the brain that control functions like the senses, movement, language, and memory through planning and interaction with compatible real-time navigation systems during surgery.

Cardiologist J.L. Mehta, MD, PhD, of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences.

Mehta is a distinguished professor of medicine and physiology and biophysics and holds the Stebbins Chair in Cardiology in the UAMS College of Medicine.

Researchers at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) have received a $600,000 grant to study the Pulaski County Regional Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU).

Arnold Ventures awarded the three-year grant to Nick Zaller, PhD, professor in the UAMS Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health, and Melissa Zielinski, PhD, assistant professor in the UAMS College of Medicine, who will serve as co-principal investigators.
