Washington Regional Medical Center recently joined the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement’s (ACHI) NaloxHome program in an effort to fight opioid overdoses and save lives. The program provides naloxone at no charge for hospital emergency rooms to dispense to patients or caregivers of patients who have experienced or are at risk of an overdose.
Baptist Health College Little Rock’s spring 2023 graduates celebrate high board passing rates across seven programs of study. Each area of study has a board certification exam specific to the program. Completion of these exams allow students to begin working in their field. This year’s graduating class of 155 students successfully took their first steps to becoming leaders in healthcare.
Between 2018 and 2019, 23 women in Arkansas died from pregnancy-related causes. According to the state’s review panel of medical experts, 90% of these deaths were potentially preventable.
Now, Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway and 32 other hospitals in Arkansas are working together to prevent maternal deaths through the Arkansas Perinatal Quality Collaborative (ARPQC), a joint collaborative between UAMS and other medical institutions across the state. For the first joint initiative, hospitals will take steps to reduce cesarean deliveries for low-risk pregnancies.
Jovan Baker, MD, is now seeing patients at Baptist Health Family Clinic-Salem Road, which recently opened in West Conway.
Baker received a medical education from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Sint Maarten. She later completed residency training at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
