Degrees and certificates were conferred to 942 graduates of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences’ (UAMS) five colleges and graduate school.

Degrees were awarded to 162 in the College of Medicine, 182 in the College of Nursing, 91 in the College of Pharmacy, 67 in the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health, 382 in the College of Health Professions, and 58 in the graduate school.

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences within the National Institutes of Health awarded an additional $5.7 million, five-year grant to fund the third and final phase of a University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences program that supports infectious disease research.

This final phase of the Centers for Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) grant is for the 11th through 15th years of the program, which since 2012 has now received more than $26 million in federal funding.

CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs will become the first hospital in Southwest Arkansas to offer Aquablation therapy. The new minimally invasive, robotic-assisted procedure is for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), commonly referred to as an enlarged prostate.

More than 40 Children’s Miracle Network Hospital (CMNH) partners from across the region celebrated Miracle Day with Arkansas Children’s on Wednesday. Together, the CMNH partners raised $4,667,695.82 during 2021 for Arkansas Children’s Hospital and Arkansas Children’s Northwest.
