Arkansas Health Secretary Jose Romero, MD, has announced that he is resigning from the position. He has accepted a job with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as the director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.

The resignation be in effect beginning May 6. A replacement has not been announced

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will host its seventh annual Parkinson’s Symposium on April 24.

Held virtually again this year, the Sunday afternoon forum is free to the public. It is aimed at Parkinson’s patients, their caregivers and family members, healthcare professionals, and anyone else interested in learning about the disease, treatment options, and research initiatives.

Registered participants can tune in from 1-2:30 p.m. and will be able to ask questions through an online chat function.

The Magnolia Regional Medical Center Board of Directors announced the appointment of Brett Kinman as chief executive officer effective May 2022. Kinman brings more than 25 years of healthcare management experience to Magnolia. He will succeed Rex Jones as CEO.
