After two years of dormancy because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Methodist Family Health’s Camp Healing Hearts is back this year with a day camp for Arkansas children and families struggling with grief. Coordinated by Kaleidoscope Grief Center, which is a program of Methodist Family Health, Camp Healing Hearts is free to families attending and will begin at 8 a.m. on May 21 at Camp Aldersgate in Little Rock. This camp is open to any family in Arkansas who is grieving the death of a loved one.

CareLink, Central Arkansas’s Area Agency on Aging, announced partnerships to host community events on April 29 and May 10. Events are open to the public and offered at no cost to them. Partnerships include the Arkansas Senior Health Insurance Information Program (ARSHIIP), the Central Arkansas Development Council (CADC), Cornerstone Pharmacy, the Alzheimer’s Association, and The Elder Law Practice of Douglas R. Jones and Cynthia Orlicek Jones.

New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University (NYITCOM at A-State) is now accepting applications for its annual summer program, Project H.E.A.R.T., which will be held June 13-16 on the A-State campus.  

Project H.E.A.R.T. (Health Education, Advocacy, Reflection, and Training) serves to further NYITCOM at A-State’s mission to develop students for service in Arkansas and the Delta region.  There is no cost to the student to attend.

The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) Minority Health Commission is hosting its 7th Biennial Summit from 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Apr. 22.

“Putting the ‘Me’ in Mental Health – Today, Tomorrow, and Always,” will be a live-streamed virtual event featuring a panel of community leaders and a keynote speaker.  Presenting from the Four Points Sheraton in Little Rock, speakers will discuss the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the mental health of both children and adults in communities of color.
