Scientists at Arkansas Children’s Research Institute (ACRI) and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will continue studying the impacts of childhood obesity after the National Institutes of Health (NIH) awarded $11.5 million in renewed funding to the ACRI Center for Childhood Obesity Prevention.

Yalcin Hacioglu, MD, an interventional cardiologist, has joined the Conway Regional Cardiovascular Clinic.

Hacioglu will be practicing alongside Don Steely, MD, and Rimsha Hasan, MD, in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of cardiovascular disease at Conway Regional. He has more than 20 years of experience as an interventional cardiologist and has practiced throughout Central Arkansas.

The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) will be providing flu vaccines across the state in preparation for the 2020-21 flu season starting Sept. 27. Each county health unit in Arkansas will be hosting a community flu vaccine clinic, which is typically a day-long event when the health unit and numerous community volunteers come together to provide flu vaccine to as many people as possible.
