Arkansas Children’s has raised its living wage to $15 an hour, leaders announced.  

The decision invests in the Arkansas Children’s team and applies to any employee across the system, including those contracted through food service and environmental services. More than 500 team members will see their paychecks impacted by the change.

Elaine Porter, APRN, recently joined Washington Regional Hospitalists, where she evaluates and treats hospitalized patients. Porter earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business from Hendrix College.

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has received an additional $4.75 million in federal grant money to continue efforts to improve healthcare in rural Arkansas through training and retaining primary care physicians.

The supplemental award from the Health Resources and Services Administration, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, comes in the third year of a four-year medical student education grant.

Washington Regional Medical System is preparing to meet the growing healthcare needs of Northwest Arkansas after acquiring approximately 15 acres near the Washington Regional campus in Fayetteville. The property, part of the Drake Farms development in Fayetteville, is located adjacent to the Washington Regional campus and will allow for future expansion of services.

The 25th Annual Family Medicine Update with Free Tobacco and Disease Symposium at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will offer up to 16 hours of online continuing education Oct. 26 - 29 for primary care physicians, doctors of osteopathic medicine, advanced practice registered nurses, registered nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, and certified health educators.
