The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) awarded 14 grants totaling $273,072 at the annual Chancellor’s Circle Grant Awards ceremony held Nov. 3 at the William J. Clinton Presidential Library & Museum.

More than 250 household and corporate members make up the Chancellor’s Circle.

Baptist Health Rehabilitation Institute-Conway recently welcomed internal medicine physician Mina Michael, MD.

Michael earned an M.B.B.CH in Medicine and Surgery from Cairo University in Egypt. He completed residency training at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Michael previously served as medical director of inpatient rehabilitation at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Institute for Community Health Innovation will expand research for maternal health in Arkansas by establishing the Maternal and Reproductive Community Health Excellence (MaRCH) research center funded through National Institutes of Health’s Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE).

Baptist Health Community Outreach is holding free flu shot clinics on select dates this November and December for individuals 12 years of age and older in eight cities.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that anyone 6 months of age and older receive the flu vaccine. If your child is between the ages of 6 months and 11 years old, making them ineligible for the Baptist Health Community Outreach flu shot clinics, there are other options available. Speak with your child’s pediatrician about getting vaccinated.

Bradley Houston, MD, a board-certified urologist, has joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Department of Urology as an assistant professor.

Houston comes to UAMS from Arkansas Urology in Conway.
