Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway has been honored as the 2026 winner of the Outstanding Business – Category 1 (150+ Employees) award by the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce. The award was presented at the Chamber's 2026 Annual Meeting on March 19.

The Outstanding Business award recognizes organizations that demonstrate excellence in business operations, community involvement, and commitment to the local economy. Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway was selected for its service and dedication to the health and well-being of the Conway community.

Yunmeng Liu, PhD, an assistant professor in the College of Medicine Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), has received a $3.6 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to study diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Baptist Health On-Site Endocrinology Clinic recently welcomed Juan Pablo Rivera, MD, who specializes in general endocrinology and is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. 

Rivera earned a Doctorate of Medicine from Universidad Internacional del Ecuador and completed his internal medicine residency at Steward Carney Hospital/Tufts University School of Medicine. He finished a fellowship in clinical and molecular endocrinology at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.

New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University is now accepting applications for Project H.E.A.R.T., the college’s “mini-medical school” program for high school students which will be held in June in both Jonesboro and Arkadelphia.

The Jonesboro session will be held June 15-18 on the A-State campus, while the Arkadelphia session will be held June 3-6 at Henderson State University. The Arkadelphia cohort will visit NYITCOM’s Jonesboro campus as part of their experience.  There is no cost to the student to attend.

Soon-to-be graduates of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine were among thousands of senior medical students nationwide who learned during simultaneous ceremonies March 20 where they will soon begin their residencies.

The UAMS Class of 2026 includes 164 students who will graduate with Doctor of Medicine degrees in May — 146 from the main campus in Little Rock and 18 from the Northwest Regional Campus in Fayetteville.
