Dr. Heather Owens has joined Little Rock Gynecology & Obstetrics, PLLC.

Owens completed a medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. She completed an internship and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Day at the Races, an annual event presented by the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, is set for 11:30 a.m. on March 19 at Oaklawn Jockey Club in Hot Springs. The event will offer the chance to enjoy an afternoon of thoroughbred racing while supporting cancer research at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).

Science Café Little Rock, co-sponsored by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), will hold its next public forum, Mental Health, Burnout, and Life Balance, on Feb. 25. Panelists will discuss mental health, stress, job burnout, and life balance.

Science Café will be from 7-9 p.m. at Hibernia Irish Tavern, 9700 N. Rodney Parham Road. Science Café is a relaxed opportunity for monthly exchanges with various experts. No reservations are needed, but seating is limited. Admission is free.

The 16th Annual Midsouth Summit Black Expo, presented by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), will celebrate black history month with an event highlighting health education, minority-owned businesses, and family-friendly entertainment.

The expo is scheduled for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Feb. 29 at the 7318 Windsong Drive in North Little Rock. Admission is free.

Conway Regional Health System has received initial accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for its Family Medicine Residency program. The program will inaugurate its first class of residents in July of 2020.
