The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has received a five-year, $10.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop biomarkers for all human diseases including cancer through the IDeA National Resource for Quantitative Proteomics.

A rural South Arkansas hospital joined a multi-state lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, asking a federal court to block upcoming changes to a prescription medication program.
José Miguel Morales, MD, MSc, a vascular neurologist and neuro-interventional surgeon, has joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine Department of Neurology.
Morales comes to UAMS from the Pacific Neuroscience Institute in Santa Monica, California.
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) welcomed Deanna Cochran, MD, as a new physician at the Thomas and Lyon Longevity Clinic in the UAMS Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging.
Cochran also serves as an assistant professor in the College of Medicine’s Department of Geriatrics. She started in her new roles in October, about four months after she completed a geriatric medicine fellowship at UAMS.
Several Baptist Health nurses were honored at the first-ever March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Gala in Arkansas, held Nov. 20 at Embassy Suites in Little Rock.
This inaugural event celebrated nursing excellence across the state, with nurses nominated in 14 specialty categories.
In total 13 nurses from Baptist Health were named finalists. The March of Dimes recognized the following 2025 Nurse of the Year winners from Baptist Health:
