The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine invested Sanjaya Viswamitra, MD, professor and chair of the Department of Radiology in the College of Medicine, in the Ernest J. Ferris, MD, Chair in Diagnostic Radiology during a Nov. 6 ceremony. 

A recognized leader in cardiac, body, and musculoskeletal imaging, Viswamitra has played a pivotal role in shaping both clinical services and academic programs at UAMS.

Ann Chou, PhD, MPH, professor for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health, is leading a $2.2 million community-based study that addresses access to preventive health services for Arkansas’ youth.

Arkansas Children’s is hosting Festival of Stars, its largest statewide giving event. This toy and donation drive helps patients and families reach better outcomes through providing toys during the holiday season and throughout the year.

Donors can purchase and donate new and unused toys to benefit patients at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Arkansas Children’s Northwest, and their clinics throughout the state.

This holiday season, Baptist Health Community Outreach invites Arkansans to participate in the free Maintain, Don't Gain Challenge, designed to empower individuals to maintain or even achieve weight loss goals during a time often associated with holiday weight gain.

The six-week challenge runs from Nov. 24, to Jan. 5, 2026. Registration is open until Nov. 19.

Participants will track their weight and set personal goals each Monday, and receive weekly emails with healthy living tips, including:

Health care providers sent Arkansas officials more than 300 proposals for how to utilize federal funding the state expects to receive to bolster rural health care in the face of impending changes to Medicaid.
