Researchers at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) have been awarded a $10,000 grant to create an app that promotes total wellness and healthy living habits in Arkansas students.

The grant comes from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, after UAMS was selected one of 10 winners nationally in the Using Technology to Prevent Childhood Obesity in Low-Income Families and Communities Challenge.

Sayre Sellars has joined Conway Regional Therapy Services as the supervisor for the therapy center in Greenbrier. 

Sellars graduated from the UCA’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2016 and has a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with emphasis in physical therapy from UCA. 

Prior to joining Conway Regional, she worked in a rural clinic in North Central Arkansas caring for outpatients.

Shannon Fleming, EdD, has been named executive director of development at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). His position will focus on fund raising efforts for the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has  received a $1.5 million gift from the estate of Carl R. Stout to create the R. Louise Stout Simmons, MD, Endowed Scholarship in the College of Medicine, which is the first full-tuition scholarship endowment in UAMS’ history.
