Gloria Richard-Davis, MD, a fertility and reproductive specialist at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), was the Scientific Program Committee chair at the 2018 annual meeting of the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) that met recently in San Diego.

Arkansas’ children have a healthier tomorrow before them, after the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and Arkansas Children’s signed updated research collaborative and affiliation agreements.

The agreements, which took effect Oct. 1, continue the strategic partnership of the state’s only medical university and the state's only children’s health system.

Afree seven-week program sponsored by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is ready to help smokers kick the habit.

The small-group Freedom from Smoking program will be offered from 5-6:30 p.m. for seven Wednesdays starting Oct. 10 in the Rahn Interprofessional Education Building at UAMS. There is no cost to participate.

Twenty-three hospitals have joined the Arkansas Heart Attack Registry (AHAR) in a collaborative effort to reduce the impact of heart attacks on Arkansans.

In 2016, Arkansas ranked number one in the nation for highest heart attack death rate, with 2,922 deaths. The American Heart Association reports that every 40 seconds someone suffers a heart attack.

Scare up some fun this Halloween at the Tiny Hands Monster Bash, a costume party fundraiser scheduled for 6:30-11 p.m. on Oct. 26 at Next Level Events, located at1400 W. Markham St. in Little Rock’s Union Station.

Tickets are $40 through Oct. 1 and $50 after that date. Purchase tickets by calling (512) 468-0808. The party is open to guests 21 and older. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Family Home of Little Rock and the neonatal intensive care unit at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).
