New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University and Arkansas Continued Care Hospital of Jonesboro have reached an affiliation agreement that will allow NYITCOM’s student doctors to train at ACCH-J facilities during their third and fourth years of medical school.

Arkansas 211 has been awarded grants totaling $97,000 to launch a statewide partnership with the rideshare company Lyft. The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will promote the free service through its eight regional campuses throughout the state.
An $87,000 grant for free rides to COVID-19 vaccination sites is awarded by The Palo Alto Group and United Way Worldwide. An additional $10,000 grant for transportation to broad health and social needs is from Lyft and United Way Worldwide.

Methodist Family Health’s counseling clinic in Alma recently hired Anthony Surrat as a behavioral health professional. He will also be providing services to school-based programs in Ozark and Cedarville.
Surrat has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. He has seven years of experience providing services as direct-care staff, in job coaching, and career counseling.

Patrick Paullus, MD, has joined the team of neurosurgeons at the CHI St. Vincent Neurosurgery Clinic in Hot Springs. The team specializes in spine surgery and brain surgery and also offers extensive help with aneurysm and stroke and an array of other conditions.
Paullus attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He completed a residency in neurosurgery at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
