Arkansas high school students can get hands-on healthcare experiences such as suturing workshops, field trips, CPR training, and heart dissection at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) MASH camps across the state this summer.
Baptist Health Foundation was recently awarded $125,000 in grants from the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) for women’s health and oncology initiatives. This funding will provide life-saving care and preventative care for underserved patients in Arkansas.
An extension of the 2025 partnership, the 2026 award brings the NBCF’s two-year funding total to $323,000 allowing Baptist Health to bring access to care for even more women in the state.
Baptist Health announced that six of its hospitals have been recognized by the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) for their commitment to high-quality stroke care. The awards are based on performance metrics from the Arkansas Stroke Registry between July 2024 and June 2025.
The ADH awards are categorized into Diamond (95%+ adherence), Ruby (90–94.99%), and Pearl (85–89.99%) classes. The following Baptist Health hospitals were recognized:

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Institute for Community Health Innovation will train at least 25 doulas in 2026 after enrolling its latest class of trainees in January.
The institute launched its comprehensive doula training program in 2025 in partnership with Ujima Maternity Network and Birthing Beyond, enrolling more than 50 participants across 28 counties. Trainees are required to attend classes with both Ujima and Birthing Beyond, receive 45 hours of Certified Breastfeeding Counselor training, attend multiple live births and receive hands-on mentorship.
Karley Bloesch, a second-year medical student at New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University (NYITCOM at A-State), was recently awarded a newly-established scholarship from the Jonesboro University Heights Lions Club.
